Teen girl blasted by parents after mishandling baby for "social media attention"

A teenage girl has felt the wrath of mums and dads on social media after posting a TikTok of her feeding a baby with the caption:"Remember to take your Birth Control".

TikTok user madisongarris74 posted the clip over the weekend showing her preparing a bottle for and feeding a baby, which in itself is nothing out of the ordinary. However parents on social media reacted angrily to the 17-year old after noting her lack of support for the youngsters neck whilst shaking the bottle to mix his milk and focusing more on trying to be social media famous than taking proper care of what they believed to be her son.

After a serious social media backlash, Madison spoke out in the comments section of her video, explaining: "Just to make it clear to everyone with hate comments THIS IS NOT MY BABY, I'm 17 and told a friend I would watch him for 3-4 hours while she got her hair done, so no I'm no expert."

The video has since made its way to Twitter, where it was shared and currently has over four million views. The tweeter captioned the video: "Friendly reminder to support your baby’s damn neck".

Replies here weren't any friendlier on the whole, with many criticising the teen before it being pointed out that the she isn't the mother and likely has no experience of properly handling a baby who does not yet have the strength to hold his own neck up.

I haven't dared to check Mumsnet yet, but I imagine Madison has been hung, drawn and quartered there too.

It's strange to see this new generation growing up and documenting their whole lives on social media, rather than keeping things private, but then again the amount of millionaires under 30 and even under 20 is a good enough reason to try and go viral and generate a following - by any means necessary it seems.

What do you think about this? Is the teenager being unjustly attacked or should she be hung out to dry given the damage not handling a tot properly could cause in the long term?

Or is this just a massive overreaction and typical trial by social media? We all know social media is an incredibly toxic place to be at the best of times, so it's no surprise to see such content being examined with a fine-toothed comb.
