Restaurant party trick goes hilariously wrong

A restaurant was left apologising to customers profusely after a party trick involving fire went horribly and hilariously wrong.

Now we Brits love a good laugh. Especially when it's at the expense of some poshos trying to show off for a bit of clout - and it going horribly wrong.

So it gives me great pleasure to present this wonderful video clip [down below] shot in America, where just that happened.

James Hughes shared the video on his facebook page originally, before it went global on social media.

The clip was shot inside Greek restaurant, Cava Mezze in Baltimore, Maryland, USA where James and had taken a host of international clients and colleagues out for dinner.

As the group were closing their bill for the evening, the restaurant offered them one last fire show and presented the Greek cheese dish, known as saganaki.

The cheese dish is cooked in a two-handled frying pan and includes feta and halloumi.

To complete the party trick, chefs set the frying pans alight, usually under an extractor fan system to avoid setting the sprinklers off. But on this very hilarious occasion, that didn't happen and the whole restaurant filled with water and smoke to prevent a 'fire'.

In the video you can hear staff shouting: "Stop the video" in the hope of preventing the gaffe from going public. Oops.

Speaking to The Daily Mail, James explained: "We took the team out to dinner at Cava Mezze.

"And everyone was loving the saganaki dish, which is a plate of cheese that is basically lit on fire.

"As we were closing our tab, our waiter came out and offered one last 'fire show' for us before we left. The rest is, how they say, history!"
