French Woman terrified by 3-month old lockdown potatoes

A French woman shared her shock on social media after returning home from lockdown to find a bag of potatoes she left in her flat had grown beyond belief.

Now, as I write this I'm genuinely trembling as I have a fear of things that grow, like tree roots and plants and DEMON POTATOES! I have googled it many a time, but I can't find a phobia anywhere that it is categorised by, so if you know please hit me up.

Donna Poree, 22, from Caen in France took to Twitter to share the repulsive and horrifying images (in my opinion) of a bag of potatoes that had grown tentacle-like sprouts.

Ms Poree, a student who I imagine moved back home during the Coronavirus pandemic to be with family, captioned the pictures, "After three months away, my potatoes decided to grow without limits, so much so that they made a hole in the seals."

The last four words there sent shivers down my spine as I opened the image showing sprouts had penetrated through the sealing around the kitchen units. It probably says more about the quality of plumbing than the strength of the sprouts, but my gosh imagine them crawling up your leg as you slept. NOPE!

The spuds were bought for around £2.25 back in March and decided they weren't waiting around for Ms Poree to return and appear to have attempted to escape.

In reality, and here's a bit of science for you. Potatoes can sprout in pretty much any environment, whether it be dark, light, cold or warm in search of water. This flat is pretty well lit and open, but has a roof so no water ingress, meaning the spuds needed to go in search of and have literally stopped at nothing to find it.

As seen in the Daily Star, Donna explained: "Before I realised that they were just potato sprouts, I was terrified by the silhouette with the long rods along the wall.

"I was not far from a heart attack."

"It was only after I turned the light on that I realised that they were just sprouts, and then I laughed at the whole, unusual situation."

The post, naturally, went viral on social media with many users replying to the original post with their own potato sprouting images. Check them out below.
