Drinkers in Britain are rejoicing as pubs reopen after the coronavirus lockdown, but this archive clip highlights the need to be cautious when choosing where to sit.

A British couple in Bolton were left with beer on their faces after choosing to politely sit on the same side of a bench to soak up some sun and not hog the whole space from other drinkers.

But the gesture left them reeling when the worst happened, leaving them out of pocket financially, on their backs and covered in booze.

CCTV footage from the pub in Bolton, Lancashire shows a man in a check shirt accompanied by a lady in a white top and black trousers navigating their way to a seat, before sitting down together when the bench - which isn't bolted to the floor - toppled over, trapping them briefly underneath as onlookers come rushing over to assist

The video isn't new, by the way. It first circulated social media in 2016 when Lad Bible shared it alongside the caption, 'couple tilt table and spill pints’.

Since then, it's garnered more than 113 thousand comments, 187 thousand shares, 272 thousand likes and over 25 million views showing that us Brits really do love a good fail at the expense of somebody else.

It has recently recirculated the internet, with the coronavirus lockdown being eased and pubs reopening to the public for the first time since March 25th, when Boris Johnson addressed the nation and closed the majority of the countries economy down - leaving just key establishments able to trade.

However with the peak being passed and officials happy with the progress made on beating coronavirus, the lockdown was eased and Brits flocked back to their favourite haunts to sup a crisp cold beer.
